i remember mid-2000s or so, Google indexed some very obscure formats, you could search & find results within a c64 tape or what not. they dropped that eventually, i guess it was "clever but not useful" for 99.99% of audience

surprising what can you still find sometimes (especially ancient links and then web.archive) -- but so much is gone. it took a bit of digging to find that weird old finnish-language ZX Spectrum text adventure but got it in the end
