If you want something between the values 3 and 4, say 3.5, there is a trick you can stop the decay (giving it the longest value with certain timing) so it doesn't reach the new sustain too early. But that's not a default thing on normal editors but that's

Sustain has only 16 possible values, so it is, 4 bit only. But you can drop from one sustain level to, say, lower, it continues decay until the lower level.

ADSR is 8bits of resolution. SID waves are 8bit. Together, 16bit

i wonder why you only have 16 levels of audio on SID (4bit) BUT... the ADSR has unlimited resolution? (see long sustain, release times............)
