i would say that OPL in general, and Adlib, are more or less synonymous, but having OPL2 tag *does* help identify if an "OPLL" is limited to OPL2 or is OPL3.
zoner(18:06:10)
because does the tag mean "adlib" as the option you select in games (which is like, 99.9% always OPL2) or does it correspond to all of adlib's historic offerings, which would include the handful of things that supported Gold
zoner(18:05:22)
Yes, however not totally. Adlib tag corresponds with anything that corresponds to "adlib" and that could be the original Adlib Card, but they also released Adlib Gold (which is OPL3 and some extra stuff), and so now we're in muddied territory

So it's a redundancy that we have separate "Adlib"/"OPL2" tags here, and they should be consolidated into a single tag?
Oldchap(18:00:55)
That clarifies it for me a lot, thank you.

(soundblasters had OPL3 on them, so were adlib compatible)
