imho the autotune really saves this tune - prefer it to the off-tune vocals mostly found in demoscene tunes with vocals. I guess Irvin thought it was the best solution as well |

I agree with Prowler. Auto-tune is completely ubiquitous these days, so producers basically must use it to avoid having inferior vocals compared to the competition. Modern audiences are far less tolerant of off-key notes than they used to be. If you listen carefully to older recordings, you can hear the occasional slightly out of tune note, whereas listeners back then either didn't notice them as they were a normal artefact of natural singing, or didn't care. Of course, if you have a really good vocalist, you don't need the continuous auto-tune which makes the whole vocal track sound somewhat artificial. Adjusting a note here and there will suffice. |
